Twenty-one-year-old Michael Maistros, 1636 E. Main St., died in an apparent pool accident at Ryan Place Apartment complex Friday.

Maistros, who was not a resident of the complex, was reportedly pulled unconscious from the pool, one witness said. In a combined effort, two witnesses performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and chest compressions on Maistros.

Maistros is not listed as a student in Kent State’s online directory.

Kathleen Hendershot, Ryan Place complex manager, reported the incident to police. According to the police report, officers were called to the scene at 11:44 a.m.

Police have closed the investigation.

Representatives from Ryan Place Apartments declined to comment.
