Senior Lindsay Shearer keeps reeling in awards and honors, even though the Kent State women’s basketball team’s season has been over for nearly a month.

Shearer, the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, was named an honorable mention to the 2006 NCAA Division I Kodak/Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-American Basketball Team Saturday, as well as the Women’s Basketball News Service All-America Third Team.

The awards were announced at the WBCA Nation Convention in Boston.

Shearer joins former Flash Dawn Zerman, who is a Varsity “K” Hall of Fame member and was named to the Kodak/WBCA team in 1999 and 2000.

Other MAC players were named as honorable mentions to the Kodak/WBCA All-America Team. Senior guard Ryan Coleman of Eastern Michigan and senior guard Casey Rost of Western Michigan were honored as well.

For WBNS All-America Third Team, Shearer joins the ranks of Zerman, who was honored in 2000, and Amy Sherry, who was honored in 1995.
