Circle K will host Mardi Gras Benefit Ball Saturday night

The Circle K Club of Kent State will host a Mardi Gras Benefit Ball tomorrow in the Student Center Ballroom from 8 to 11 p.m.

Tickets for the semi-formal dance cost $5 and can be purchased today on the second floor of the Student Center from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. or at the door of the dance.

All proceeds will benefit Kent State United for Biloxi to help rebuild parts of Biloxi, Miss., affected by Hurricane Katrina. The spring break alternative trip will take place from March 25 to April 1.

“We wanted the money to go to Katrina relief,” said Brittney Sloan, freshman interior design major and Circle K dance chair. “So when we found out about the trip to Biloxi, it fit in with Katrina relief and students at Kent State.”

Mardi Gras beads, refreshments, door prizes and music from two live performers and a disc jockey will be provided. Mardi Gras masks will be on sale for $2, along with tickets for a silent auction.

The dance is co-sponsored by Habitat for Humanity, Club Managers Association of America, PRIDE! Kent and Commuter and Off-Campus Student Organization.
