Violet’s latest album fails to impress
December 1, 2005
Violet’s The Last Cathedral reminds listeners of a bad country album mixed with so-so alternative rip-off songs.
Released by Wine & Vinyl Music, the group tries to be reminiscent of Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins from the ’60s and ’70s, but fails miserably.
Audiences won’t be able to tell if this is either a country album or an alternative folk album. Not to say that there is anything wrong with trying to fuse different types of sound on an album, but it lacks definition.
The album has no direction and seems to drag along with Minogue’s voice trailing toward no end.
