Credit offered for summer courses in South Korea
December 7, 2005
The university will offer students the opportunity to study in South Korea for six weeks starting next summer.
Students will have the option of taking between 9 and 12 credit hours of coursework while studying at Keimyung University. All courses will be taught in English.
Dennis Hart, coordinator of the program and associate professor of political science, said the program will give students first-hand exposure to issues relating to globalization.
“Whenever (Americans) go overseas, they always think they are going to teach people things,” Hart said. “They think they can best teach others how to be free and democratic. An experience like this one allows Americans to learn. They get to see the culture of Korea through the voices and perceptions of the people who live in that culture.”
The cost for the program is about $4,900.
Students who wish to find out more information can contact Dennis Hart at (330) 499-9600 or at [email protected]. More information is also available on Hart’s Web site www.personal.kent.edu/~dhart or in the International Affairs Office located in room 128 Bowman Hall.
