The Kent Interhall Council elected Justin Jeffrey as the new KIC president for the 2005-2006 school year last Tuesday.

The rest of the KIC elections will be held in the coming weeks.

Jeffrey, a sophomore English major, has big plans for the council when he takes over the position.

“We’ve been really strong, but I plan on adding my own spin on certain things,” Jeffrey said.

Expanding KIC by recruiting more volunteers is one of Jeffrey’s new ideas. He also plans on KIC becoming more involved with other organizations on campus.

Jeffrey said he wants to develop more weekend programming for a better retention rate on campus.

Extending the readership program with USA Today and finding an alternative to the recently canceled movie channel are also priorities for Jeffrey.

“I want to keep KIC up with good programming and advocacy,” Jeffrey said.

Jeffrey is currently the director of leadership development of KIC and involved in the KIC Chorale. Jeffrey is also a student ambassador and a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.

Scott McCallen, current president of KIC, said Jeffrey can handle the responsibility.

“I think he’s gonna do a great job,” McCallen said.

Jeffrey will take over the presidency at the last KIC meeting, two weeks before the end of the semester.

“We’re going to keep a high level of involvement and keep KIC’s name out there,” Jeffrey said.
