The courses originally known as Core Mathematics I-IV are now named Basic Algebra I-IV. Students who are enrolled in Basic Algebra I-IV are now learning their math in a whole new way. The Mathematics Department has revamped the basic math courses so that the students are able to learn much easier.

The students do all of the coursework online using a new math software called, ALEKS. ALEKS stands for Assessment and LEarning in Knowledge Spaces. The students complete the work through ALEKS on their own and are able to control their pace of the class.

All of the Basic Algebra classes are located in the library on the second floor. The class is not considered online. Instructors are available during class hours and also office hours.

Students are able to access ALEKS from their own computers to get through the class faster. The Math Emporium is open to all mathematics students weekdays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
