Ravenna’s Balloon A-Fair will host its 44th annual event with new attractions for families, such as axe throwing and pony rides, from Sept. 14 to Sept. 17.

The events will be held at Sunbeau Valley Farm in Ravenna, with admission being $5 per person and kids under 12 having free admission.

“We have a lot of new things this year,” said Sean Short, vice president of Ravenna Balloon A-Fair. “New things for kids to do this year; pony rides, axe throwing and we have a trackless train offering train rides.”

Aside from all the new activities, the fair will also feature many of its traditional events, including car shows, parades and live music.

“Friday we have the Hot Air Balloon Glow,” Short said. “At sunset, we will have 12 hot air balloons inflate, they stay on the ground and then they pull their burners and just light their balloons up at night, and everyone can go out onto the field, and get close to the balloons while they’re doing that.”

People of all ages are welcome to the fun.

“All three days at Sunbeau we have food vendors, live bands, inflatables all three days, pony rides, ax throwing, beer vendors, [and] we’ll have a wine garden this year,” Short said.
