Kent Free Library joins this year’s Main Street Kent Rainbow Weekend celebrations, hosting its film festival featuring LGBTQ+ films tailored to people 18 and older.

The festival will feature three films throughout the weekend, showcasing the talent and storytelling prowess of the LGBTQ+ community.

The library staff, spearheaded by the adult services librarian Emily Lohr, is enthusiastic about bringing a unique film experience to the local community.

“We are going to be showing the movies right here in the library,” she said. “We have a nice space and big screen to project on.”

The lineup includes “The Way He Looks” on Friday, followed by “Rafiki” and “Straight Up” on Saturday. All stories are brought to life by talented writers, directors, and actors identifying with the LGBTQ+ community.

Admission to all screenings is free. More information, including screening times and additional details, can be found on the library’s website

“There are fun displays and special cards throughout the library where people can see our LGBTQ+ collection highlights,” she said.
