EMU Fall Classic ends Kent State cross country’s regular season

Kent State’s cross country team traveled to Dexter, Michigan, to compete in the EMU Fall Classic Saturday at Hudson Mills Metropark.

Both the men’s and women’s teams ran a 5K. 

The first Flash across the finish line for the men was junior Jonah Cuestas. He placed 12th with a time of 16:20.8. 

Freshman Caleb Bost finished in 23rd with a time of 16:52.0. 

Looking at the women’s team, junior Olivia Fenneken was the first Flash across the finish line in 72nd place with a time of 21:52.2. 

She was closely followed by freshman Story Jones in 78th place with a time of 22:31.9. 

The EMU Fall Classic concluded the regular season for both teams. 

Junior Baidy Ba was named Mid-American Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week on Oct. 17, following the Pre-Nationals meet. 

The team will be competing in the 2023 Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Mel Brodt Cross Country Course in Bowling Green, Ohio.

A Season Ago 

Looking at the Championship meet from 2022, Ba placed seventh with a time of 23:55.6 in the 8K, and he earned All-MAC First Team Honors. 

Ba is one of the first male KSU runners to post a top-10 finish since 2009. 

The men’s team overall placed fifth out of eight teams.

Graduate student Leah Lisle was the first Flash across the finish line in 33rd place with a time of 21:47.8 in the 6K.

The women’s team overall placed eighth out of 12 teams.
