The LGBTQ+ Center is preparing for the second-to-last meeting of the Queer and Trans People of Color (QTPOC) group Wednesday, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.

This meeting will primarily center around trans awareness, emphasizing real-life experiences and sharing examples of trans survival and resilience.

The QTPOC social group offers a closed, safe space open to all students, eliminating the need for prior registration. Attendees can simply participate in the LGBTQ+ Center’s meetings without encountering identity-related queries.

Gatherings like these hope to facilitate connections and mutual learning and create a support network in a safe and inclusive setting. It’s an important platform for LGBTQ+ students, offering them the opportunity to come together, share their experiences and foster a stronger sense of unity within the campus community. It also highlights the community-building aspect and ensures all voices are acknowledged and valued.

“Having these social groups builds community and connects students across campus,” said Haleigh Ketler, the graduate assistant at the LGBTQ+ Center.
