As of Tuesday morning, Kent police are still searching for Dawan R. Wilson, who has been charged with the aggravated murder of a 35-year-old woman at a duplex off South Water Street in Kent.

A Kent Police Department report said the homicide occurred around 2 p.m. Nov. 21 at 1323 S. Water St. Kent Police Lieutenant Michael Lewis told the Record-Courier the victim was pregnant and more charges could be filed.

A warrant is out for Wilson’s arrest. The suspect is 44 years old and from Goodyear, Arizona.

“We know that he is armed and dangerous but because of the domestic nature of this incident, we don’t have any evidence to believe that anybody in the general public is at risk,” Lewis said in an interview with KentWired Nov. 22.

According to the police report, Kent police officers responded to the residence after “possible shots fired” was reported by a neighbor in the same building. When the officers arrived at the duplex, one reported he heard a child crying in the apartment. The young child attempted to open the door, but the dead bolt was locked. A window in the residence was unlocked, the report included.

Before entering, an officer heard the child say her brother was inside the residence and “her mother was downstairs and her daddy shot her,” according to the report.

In the residence, the officer heard a baby crying from the basement, the report said. At the bottom of the stairs leading to the basement, he reported he saw a woman, who was “bleeding from the face,” lying face down. A baby was crying on a bed in the middle of the room.

According to the report, “The shot female was deceased” and “There was blood splatter moving from the deceased, towards the east side wall.”

The officer found two shell casings, a bullet fragment and a spent bullet in the basement, according to the report.

When paramedics arrived, the woman was confirmed dead.

“Unfortunately, there are not many updates in the investigation,” Lewis said in an email response Tuesday.
