Kedronova rides big first round to fourth place, helps women’s golf place sixth at Therese Hession Invite

Freshman Veronika Kedronova carded a 2-under par 70 in her first round, the best individual score in the field through 18 holes, as the Kent State women’s golf team finished sixth out of twelve teams in the Therese Hession Buckeye Invite on April 13 and 14.

After the first day, the Flashes were in third place. They remained in third place until the second day when they slipped down to the middle of the pack.

The two-day event included three rounds at the Scarlet Course at Ohio State.

KSU finished 31 strokes over par, 38 shots behind the winning Ohio State Buckeyes.

Sophomore Leon Takagi took eleventh in the field, shooting six over par through the two days.

Senior Hester Sicking finished in the top 20 as well, shooting eight over par.

Moving forward

Kent State is pursuing quite the impressive feat from Apr. 21-23 at Pinnacle Golf Club in Grove City, Ohio.

For 24 straight years, the Kent State women’s golf team has been the Mid-American Conference champions.

What’s attempting to stop a 25th title in a row is rhe other nine teams in the ten-team field: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan.

Since the inaugural season in 1999, no other team has raised the MAC Championship trophy.
