The 6th Annual Golden Reflections Valentine’s Day Showcase will take place on Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Kiva. The dance group and eight students will perform during this year’s showcase.

Janele Lysath, senior fashion merchandising major and choreographer for Golden Reflections, believes the showcase is able to encompass many forms of performing arts.

“The showcase is for other students to perform and display their talent in poetry, spoken word, dance, rap and singing,” Lysath said.

Spoken word is a poetry performance that focuses on word play such as intonation the playing or pitch, and inflection, the change in the form of a word.

“The showcase is just for fun and to give students a night away from school. We have two games for couples during intermission with a reward for a gift card to a romantic dinner on Valentine’s Day,” Lysath said.

The women of Golden Reflections dance team strove to keep legacy of the showcase alive while exploring and displaying the talent of students at Kent State.

“We have worked so hard to keep the legacy of Golden Reflections a part of Kent State and continue to keep the showcase going,” Lysath said.

Presale tickets are being sold on the second floor of the student center, 2 tickets for $5 and 1 for $3. On the day of the event tickets will be $5 per person.
