If you are looking for a change in holiday meals that will leave you full or a gift for anyone you know, look no further than Taco Tontos.

The business that calls Kent and Lakewood home has been on Franklin Avenue for 15 years, but originated in 1972 from a small food cart. Altogether, the business has been in Kent for 46 years, and with good reason. Daily specials,  always offer something new to try.

On Wednesday, the special of the day is Banh Mi Burrito, made with Vietnamese pulled pork, rice, house pickled carrots, cilantro-lime cucumbers and soy-sesame mayo. $8 for a small burrito, $9 for a large, or $9 for tacos and $9.50 for a bowl.

“It’s a Vietnamese dish and it’s one of the few places around here you can get something like that,” said Emma Lasko, a general manager. “We home season everything. We house pickle all of our vegetables and it’s pretty simple, but it’s everybody’s favorite special in town.”

In addition to delicious food, Taco Tontos sells gift cards and stickers that are the perfect stocking stuffer for a friend or family member that loves authentic Mexican food.

“It’s family owned, family run and it’s honestly like one of the most amazing places,” Lasko said.
