Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers’ newest location will be opening on June 26 on East Main Street.

The Louisiana-based company began construction in May at 1802 East Main St. in front of the Campus Pointe apartment complex. When the restaurant opens it will be the 26th location in Ohio and the 387th system-wide.

The new addition to the Kent area has many students excited to try out Raising Cane’s chicken.

“I am definitely for Cane’s to come to Kent,” said senior accounting major Josh Tallarico. “There aren’t too many chicken places in the area so the addition is much needed. I have never had Cane’s before; however, I hear their toast and signature sauce is amazing.”

Raising Cane’s is seeking 80 candidates for multiple positions at the new restaurant. Those interested can apply online at caniaccareers.com. Hiring will continue through Tuesday, June 19.

“I am very excited about the newest location,” said senior environmental conservation bio major Hagen Blanton. “I’ve been to Cane’s many times, mostly in Columbus, and I think the location is good considering there isn’t much room downtown.”

The Kent location will be the second Raising Cane’s location to open in Northeast Ohio since the start of 2018, with a location opening in Canton on February 20th.

“Raising Cane’s started in a college town and has grown into one of the nation’s fastest growing franchises,” Senior Vice President of Marketing for Champion Management Russell Ford, said in an email. “A great part of our success is being a part of the many traditions and fond memories that are made as part of a being in a college community. In Ohio we’ve been a part of Ohio State’s campus community for well over a decade.”

Raising Cane’s, which was founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1996, is known for it’s chicken fingers, signature sauce and lemonade.
