This year, 2,287 students voted in the 2018-19 undergraduate student elections. Last year only 1,622 students voted, making this election a record voter turnout.

Olivia Mullen, the USG chief of staff, said they’ve tried to do more to increase student involvement this past year and hopes to continue this progress over this coming year.

“We’ve done more student outreach and have a lot of different kinds of people running,” Mullen said.

Despite many positions running uncontested, this election has increased student involvement with USG.

Steven Farhat, the newly elected senator for the College of Education, Health and Human Services said, “I have no words right now. I am overjoyed, I am so thankful to the people who elected me.”
