The Kent State Recreation and Wellness Center will be holding its third annual Zumbathon on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to benefit the #ForTheKids movement by Akron Children’s Hospital.

The event is free to attend, but donations will be accepted. Registration will be available at the event.

This year’s Zumbathon features new activities, including different types of dancing and exercise. The Rec’s SRWC Facebook page released this statement regarding the event: “New this year, we will also be featuring Bollywood dancing, belly dancing and POUND fitness.”

Instructors will be on-hand to teach specific activities, and attendees will be able to participate in all events provided in the two-hour period.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Akron Children’s Hospital’s #ForTheKids movement. #ForTheKids is a series of dance and exercise-based events put on to raise money for the patients of the hospital. The donations raised during the event go directly to the hospital, which uses the funds toward providing for its current patients.

In 2013, a similar event was held by a Kent State hip-hop team in the Student Center Ballroom, which featured 150 participants and raised $1,635 dollars for breast cancer research.
