Local yoga boutique to hold female empowerment workshop

Downtown Kent’s local yoga studio, One Love Yoga, will hold a female empowerment workshop on Friday as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Female Warrior Workshop is one of three workshops the boutique is offering for the month of October.

The workshop will be taught by one of the studio’s instructors, Erin Cornell.

“It will be a typical yoga class with some more warrior postures, a little bit longer holds, and also working on some arm balances and empowering practices that give you something to continue to work on,” Cornell said.

She said her inspiration for the workshop came from someone mentioning it to her as an idea one day.

“I know a lot of people that have been affected by breast cancer,” Cornell said. “I thought anything that I can do to connect with not just what they’ve gone through, but the more positive attributes and the lessons they’ve learned from their own challenges … awakens something in all of us.”

Cornell is using this workshop as an opportunity to combine two things she loves: teaching yoga and the quality that arises through adversity.

She hopes to impact others through this workshop by providing the tools to discover their practice and strength, as well as give them the space to develop a relationship with themselves.

The workshop is open to anyone who wants to continue their practice or simply learn new techniques.
