Making a homecoming of memories

Although the homecoming season has come and gone, it’s left the same feeling of spirit among both students and alum. For one week, we can come together in the collective identity that is undeniably Kent State.

Throughout that time, people participated in a variety of events, such as painting the “K” at Risman Plaza, getting to know the beloved Flash mascot, and marching proudly in the annual Homecoming parade.

Most memorably, students witnessed the crowning of the new Mr. Flash from the famous pageant, enjoy the Kesha and PartyNextDoor concert, and watch the Flashes football team in the infamous Wagon Wheel game against The University of Akron. Though Kent State lost the lead in the final minute, the Flash spirit never faltered.

Throughout the week-long festivities, time was spent with friends, siblings, parents and alum. Of 77 events, one instance involving a couple together for more than 50 years share a “Kiss on the K” stuck in the minds of many.

A week full of instances left us a week full of memories that can be added to the 2016 fall semester. They’re memories that will be remembered and cherished for years to come.
