Amidst her book signing tour, stand up and podcast comedian Phoebe Robinson will stop by the Kent State Bookstore to sign her New York Times best-seller You Can’t Touch my Hair: And Other Things I Still Have to Explain,” on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Robinson has also appeared on NBC’s “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” “Last Call With Carson Daly” and MTV’s “Girl Code.”

Along with the book signing, Robinson will also hold a discussion and Q&A on being a black woman in America and dealing with old prejudices and fresh absurdities on the day-to-day basis.

The book is a collection of essays about race, gender and pop culture. She connects these essays to her own life hoping others relate and become more educated on what it’s like to be a black woman in America.

As stated on the back cover of her book, Robinson has been faced with stereotyping, judgement from others and questioned about her opinions about music, the workplace, security guards and race over the years.

“Yes, people do ask her whether they can touch her hair all. The. Time. Now, she’s ready to take these topics to the page—and she’s going to make you laugh as she’s doing it,” states the back cover of her new book.
