Construction updates to begin Monday

Starting Monday, construction projects around the city of Kent and affecting Kent State will begin.

Just west of Ted Boyd Drive on Summit Street will be shut Monday and Tuesday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, according to a Kent State news release.  

South Depeyster Street between Summit Street and Haymaker Parkway will be shut down for underground utility work and road repairs starting Monday and lasting through Friday, according to a May 11 news release from the city’s Department of Public Service. Entry to Day Street from Depeyster Street will also be closed.

Beginning Monday and until May 22, the intersection of East Campus Center Drive / Summit Street will be shutdown as part of Kent’s Summit Street construction project. Vehicles will be unable to access the East Campus Center Drive via Summit Street or Campus Center Drive, according to the same news release.

Johnston Drive is set to be closed to traffic for several weeks as part of the beginning of construction on the first roundabout of the Summit Street construction project. Access to the Power Plant and Student Recreation and Wellness Center parking lots will remain open during the construction, the university press release states.

The intersection at Summit Street will remain open.
