Sixth annual Black Squirrel 5K on Saturday

The Kent State University Department of Recreational Services is hosting the sixth annual Black Squirrel 5K Race this Saturday. The race starts at 8 a.m. and is a loop course beginning and ending near the Student Recreation and Wellness Center on the Kent State campus. It then goes through the Esplanade and the Portage County Bike and Hike Trail where runners can see the black squirrels that Kent is known for.An awards ceremony will immediately follow where participants can win cash prizes for first, second, and third place. Performance T-shirts will be given to runners who registered by March 25th, but free breakfast and door prizes from local vendors will be offered to all participants. There is still time to register for the race, for a fee of $30. Check in will take place the day before the race on Friday, April 8th from 6-9 p.m. at the SRWC, as well as right before the race on Saturday 7-7:30 a.m.
