The Women’s Center will be holding the seventh annual Mothers, Mentors, and Muses scholarship fundraiser this Tuesday at the Student Center Ballroom.

This event honors Kent State female-identifying faculty and staff that were nominated by students and fellow colleagues that were significantly impacted by the honoree.

“It’s anyone from a vice-president, a custodial worker, to administrative staff, to clerical… We’re including the whole spectrum and often times I think we don’t recognize leadership in that way,” said Cassandra Pegg-Kirby, assistant director of the Women’s Center, “But this is recognizing people who have impacted and inspired those around them to be the best they can be.”

This year there are 46 honorees to join the more than 300 women who have received this honor since its inception. The proceeds of the event will go to fundraising $500 scholarship awards to be given out to student women of recognition.

“We are celebrating these women who are doing this now and we’re supporting those women who are coming up now to support our future mothers, mentors, muses, and leaders,” Pegg-Kirby said.

This year will include a silent auction as part of the fundraising for the scholarships and also feature guest speaker Carol Cartwright, president emerita.

The event will be from 5 pm to 7:30 pm. Persons attending must register in order to attend. You can register at the Women’s Center in person or at their website.
