Men’s golf finishes third in South Carolina

The Kent State men’s golf team finished their third round of the General Hackler in Myrtle Beach, Florida, yesterday, moving up two spots on the leaderboard. They ended the tournament nine under par with four players in the top 25.

Freshman Gisli Sveinbergsson led the team with a fourth place finish with a six-under-par finish. Sophomore Chase Johnson shot the best score of the day with a final round total of six under. He tied for 22nd overall.

Junior Josh Whalen tied for seventh for the weekend, shooting four-under-par. Whalen led the tournament in birdies with 17 total. Sophomore Ian Holt shot one-under-par, giving him a tie for 15th place. Freshman Bjarki Petursson fell to 64th after a troublesome round Sunday.

The South Carolina Gamecocks won the General Hackler with 23-under-par. The Flashes looks forward to the new rankings to come out Wednesday morning.
