The Kent Police Department arrested a second suspect around 8 p.m. on Wednesday in connection with Sunday night’s homicide at Ryan Place apartments.

A 17-year-old Massillon teen, Marquis Grier, was taken to the Portage County Juvenile Justice Center after his arrest. Grier is being held on a delinquency by aggravated murder charge. He is being held without bond.

Prior to Grier’s arrest, Kent police, with assistance from the Stow Police Department, arrested Ty Kremling, a 17-year-old Stow resident, in connection with the same murder. Prosecutors have filed a motion to have Kremling tried as an adult. He will appear in court on March 4.

Police believe Kremling and Grier were involved with the shooting of 18-year-old Nicholas Massa. Massa was a freshman managerial marketing major at Kent State.

A .38-caliber handgun stolen from a Munroe Falls home was not used during Sunday night’s homicide, said Munroe Falls Police Chief Tom Pozza.

Pozza said more information will follow once the investigation is completed.
