The Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) will be closed from May 9 to May 17 for its annual facility shutdown.

Associate director Kim Rufra said the center will be replacing all of its free weight equipment, as well as expanding the number of weight equipment pieces.

She said they also will be extending the weight room area into the fitness floor area and replacing the carpet outside of the weight room with the same kind of flooring that is found in the weight room.

The equipment on the fitness floor will be moved upstairs to the upper fitness floor.

The facility will also be deep-cleaned and painted, and the pools will be drained and cleaned.

In addition, construction will begin next week to add additional parking spaces to the front, middle and back lots. The front lot will be closed and become a staging center once construction to reconfigure Summit Street begins on a currently undisclosed date.

The SRWC will reopen Monday, May 18 following its summer schedule; it will be open Monday-Friday 6 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. It will be open from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Memorial Day (May 25) and the observed Independence Day (July 3), and it will be closed on Independence Day (July 4).
