The Kent State Museum will open the “Geoffrey Beene: American Ingenuity” exhibition on Thursday, Jan. 29.

Geoffrey Beene, a renowned American designer, was highly respected for his original, modernist designs, such as transforming two-dimensional fabric into a three-dimensional shape, according to a Kent State press release.

The exhibit extends over Beene’s 40-year career, museum director Jean Druesedow said in a phone interview.

Druesedow said that the displayed garments include pieces such as dresses designed by Beene during the 1960s, 1990s and early 2000s.

The exhibit can be found in the Kent State Museum’s Broadbent Gallery and will close to the public on Aug. 30, 2015.
