Box Score

The Kent State women’s basketball team could not pull off a win on the road against Ball State University on Wednesday.

The Cardinals (8-7, 4-0 Mid-American Conference) came to play, dominating in steals, blocks and assists throughout the whole game. The Flashes (3-12, 1-3) turned the ball over 23 times, which affected the game dramatically. The final score was 85-47.

“Tonight’s game was a matter of execution,” Kent State coach Danielle O’Banion said. “I thought Ball State did a really nice job of making tough shots. Unfortunately, in the beginning of the game, the shots we got, which are shots we wanted to get, didn’t fall.”

Redshirt senior center CiCi Shannon and sophomore guard Krista White led the team by scoring 10 points each. Shannon managed a double-double by tacking on 11 rebounds.

“I think CiCi Shannon stood out tonight,” O’Banion said. “The unfortunate thing was that she was in foul trouble for much of the first half. She wasn’t available, because we were trying to make sure she was available in the second half. She shot 50 percent from the field with the defensive pressure. She did a really nice job.”

The Flashes plan to recoup and get ready to face Northern Illinois University on Jan. 17. The Huskies are 5-8 overall and 1-2 in the MAC.

“One of our main goals is to get better everyday, and to establish consistency and performance,” O’Banion said.
