Kent State University’s vice president for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Alfreda Brown, has been awarded the Diversity Visionary Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, a publication advocating for and celebrating diversity in higher education.

The award recognizes individuals who have made significant past and present contributions to diversity at the post-secondary level.

Brown’s responsibilities include for overseeing the university’s diversity and inclusion programs including Office of Diversity, Women’s Resource Center, LGBTQ Center, Sexual and Relationship Violence Support Services, Student Multi-Cultural Center and Trio.

The honorees are nominated by colleagues, then reviewed and selected by the INSIGHT staff. Her nomination letter underlined several of her diversity efforts and programs at Kent State.

Brown is featured in this month’s issue of the magazine along with several other college professionals.
