The Center for Disease Control confirmed a case of ebola at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas on Tuesday.

An unidentified patient in the Dallas-area hospital was diagnosed with the deadly disease – the first such case in the US – and is being treated in quarantine, according to a report from ABC News and the CDC.

More than 3,000 people have died in West Africa from the ebola virus, according to a Sept. 26 report from the World Health Organization.

A CDC press conference is scheduled for Tuesday evening.
