Kent State’s Political Science Club hosted a Political Science Fair in the Student Center Ballroom Oct. 22.

Independent candidate Doria Daniels, Councilman Michael DeLeone, Kent Planning Commission member Melissa Long and Councilman Roger Sidoti promoted the event. The goal was to give students and community a chance to get to know Portage County political candidates.

Daniels and Long discussed issues Kent is facing as a community, such as new construction, housing issues and construction on a new jail.

“I want to see Kent continue doing what they’re doing right now with the revitalization of downtown,” said Long.

Daniels also discussed her issues with Kent, “I really want to do more work on historical neighborhoods.”

Both parties agree the city of Kent has room for improvement, but they are happy to see the success of Kent’s revitalized downtown area.
