The Kent State football team beat Miami 48-47, becoming the Mid-American Conference East Division champion for the first time since 2012.

The game went into overtime, where graduate student quarterback Dustin Crum scored on a 1-yard touchdown run on third down to put KSU ahead 48-41.

Miami scored on its first overtime possession on a 25-yard pass to redshirt junior wide receiver Jalen Walker. The Redhawks went for the two-point conversion to win the game, but redshirt junior cornerback Montre Miller broke up the pass, sealing the win for the Flashes.

Kent State will play Northern Illinois on Saturday, Dec. 4 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan for the MAC Championship Game.

If the Flashes win, it would be their first MAC Championship since 1972.
