The Portage County Coroner’s Office confirmed that a Kent man found floating in the Cuyahoga River on Saturday drowned.

Coroner’s office administrator Wayne Enders said an autopsy early Thursday afternoon confirmed freshwater drowning as 28-year-old Dante Warren’s cause of death. The Portage County Coroner signed off on the autopsy report. Enders said no foul play was evident and Warren’s death is believed to have been an accident.

Warren was reported missing to Kent Police on Sept. 16. A group of kayakers found Warren’s body in the river near Stow Street on Saturday, according to the coroner’s office. The kayakers had not yet gotten into the water when they saw the body and called for emergency crews at 12:22 p.m.

The Kent Police Department, Kent Fire Department and Portage County Water Rescue Team responded to the call Saturday. A relative confirmed the body was Warren’s.

Graveside services for Warren will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.
