FlashLine Outage; More changes to come.

FlashLine’s self-service options will be unavailable to users from Friday Sept. 27, at 6 p.m. until Sunday Sept. 29, at 6 p.m, due to an annual Banner upgrade.

“This is a normal technology upgrade to get ready for new features,” said Coleen D. Santee, the executive director of enterprise support and application services.

Santee said Banner upgrades generally happen around October, and this year it will be affecting administrative areas including course registration, class schedules, financial aid, human resource materials and leave reporting.

Because FlashLine is such a large system, the upgrades have to be tested, and “the time frame of it being closed allows us to catch any mistakes and fix them,” she said.

“Students won’t see much of the new functionality,” said Santee, but they can expect to have new course registration features in the future.

Students can expect new registration features as early as next fall, allowing time to perform tests that will allow “2,000 students per minute to register for classes,” said Santee.
