In partnership with Blackstone LaunchPad and hacKSU, University Libraries will host a 24-hour “Innov8athon” event starting at 5 p.m. Friday through Saturday evening.

According to www.Innova8athon.com, the event is an opportunity for Kent State entrepreneurs, freelancers, programmers and creative students to collaborate business ideas. Participants will be able to build these ideas with the possibility of being rewarded with cash prizes that can be used to expand the business concepts.

The event will begin Friday with a keynote speaker, and end Saturday evening. Mary Lovin, university libraries communications coordinator, said the library’s late night hours will be in effect for the event, and the library will still be available to individuals not participating in the “Innov8athon.”

“We are providing the venue and allowing LaunchPad to utilize our equipment,” Lovin said. “Anyone is welcome to come to the library while we are open all night.”

More information about the event and how to register as a participant can be found at www.Innova8athon.com.
