No gun involved in Van Deusen Hall argument

People overheard there may have been a gun involved in an argument between a professor and student earlier today, said Eric Mansfield, executive director of university media relations.

Police investigated the report and talked to the professor and student and determined there was no gun involved. Mansfield said it was just a misunderstanding.

No one was arrested.

Update: 4:55 p.m.

The situation has been cleared, according to Kent State police.

According to a dispatch officer at the Kent State Police department, a witness reported seeing a person with a gun in Van Deusen Hall sometime during the day. Police were sent to check on it around 4:15 p.m.
