Kent State’s Fashion Student Organization will host the fourth annual Goodwill Personal Styling Fashion Show Friday in the Rockwell Hall Auditorium.

Doors will open at 7:30 p.m and the event will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets will be $5 at the door.

Jessica Ballas, a sophomore fashion merchandising major and FSO treasurer, said the show is a competition. She said the complete looks will be styled only from garments purchased at thrift stores.

“Fashion merchandising students will be featuring the looks they have bought and styled from thrift stores and will send them down the runway,” Ballas said.

Ballas said that she will use thrift store garments to improvise an in-style look. Ballas also said she will use a lot of fun accessories.

Sarah Knapp, a junior fashion merchandising major and FSO public relations officer, said thrift shopping can be overwhelming.

“I like to look for one item that I can base the rest of my outfit off of and go from there,” Knapp said. “I had ideas of what I wanted but ended up having to shop a couple times to find something I really liked.”

Ballas said fashion design students will judge the thrift-store looks and announce a first, second and third place winner. Cash will be awarded and the first-place winner will receive a free photoshoot with Mindy Sue Photography.
