In honor of the Chinese New Year, the Kent State University Orchestra will host a concert Friday, Feb. 1 in the Music and Speech Center.

The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Ludwig Recital Hall. It is the first collaboration between the Kent State Orchestra and the Kent State Chinese Students and Scholars Association.

Students should expect to hear traditional Chinese music such as “Jasmine Flower” and “I love you, China.”

Shuo Ding, president of CSSA, said the two groups decided to work together last semester.

“Soprano Dan Chloe Fang is very popular among Chinese students,” Ding said. “I think everyone will like to hear her sing with the music.”

Admission is free, and Chinese food will be available.

Chinese New Year is Feb. 9 this year. Ding said CSSA will continue the celebration on Feb. 10 with a gallery in the student center ballroom.
