The Kent State Gospel Choir will be performing its first concert of the school year 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Cartwright Auditorium.

The choir will be singing contemporary songs such as “It All Belongs to You” and traditional songs such as “Amazing Grace.” Choir director Linda Walker said a men’s chorus from St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland also would join the show.

“It’s unique, and I think this is a great way to recruit students,” Walker said.

The two choirs will each do a set of songs and then will sing “Total Praise” together at the end. The audience will be encouraged to sing along to Christmas carols.

The doors open at 7 p.m. The concert is free.
