Kent Police say a 19-year-old motorist hit a 61-year-old Kent resident who was riding his bicycle Thursday night after 11 p.m.

According to the police report, Jordan Self was backing out of a parking space in front of 157 S. Water Street and failed to yield to Ernest Storch, the oncoming cyclist.

Storch was taken to Akron City Hospital and is in serious condition.

Self was able to drive away from the scene. Public Information Officer Jim Prusha says Self’s court date is pending, but it will be within the next two weeks.
