New provost to be announced Monday

President Lester Lefton will announce Kent State’s new provost and senior vice president for academic affairs Monday at 11 .am.

The Provost Search Committee brought in four candidates over the last few weeks, including David Francko, University of Alabama; Todd Diacon, University of Massachusetts Amherst; Bernard Mair, University of Florida; and Timothy Moerland, dean for the College of Arts and Sciences. These candidates met privately with top university officials and held open forums during their visits to campus.

The university issued a press release Friday afternoon, describing the provost’s position as being “responsible for all academic affairs functions of the university.”

Lefton will introduce the new provost from Kent Student Center Room 204.

Current Provost Robert Frank will leave after the semester’s end for the president’s position at the University of New Mexico.
