Ohio man facing dogfighting, animal cruelty counts

CLEVELAND (AP) — A dog-fighting suspect in Ohio has been indicted on 38 counts including cruelty to animals.

A Cuyahoga County grand jury returned the indictment Thursday against 33-year-old Collin Rand Jr. of Cleveland. The charges also include dogfighting and drug counts.

Authorities raided his house last month and seized 27 dogs.

Prosecutor Bill Mason’s office says the raid also netted evidence of drug sales and a treadmill with plywood sides, apparently to keep dogs from jumping off.

Rand’s attorney says he hasn’t seen the indictment and cannot comment.
