Opinion: Steven Tyler takes a tumble

That part, I hadn’t even thought about until Tyler said it himself. After all of that, Lauer still wasn’t convinced. He really wanted a flat-out answer as he asked, “So you’re clean and sober? That’s not the issue?”

“No, it’s not the issue,” Tyler said. As if any of us didn’t believe him at this point. Of course he’s telling the truth. Sadly, America judges. We don’t like to think the best of people; we automatically assume the worst.

But, in a lot of cases, the worst is the truth. Luckily, there was no foul play involved with the rocker’s unfortunate tumble.

If anyone has seen the pictures of his face after the accident, you’ll know that it wasn’t the prettiest sight. He had to have two teeth replaced, four stitches to the eye and some reparative plastic surgery. All of these fixes were done at one hospital. Tyler joked that his incident was his own version of “Montezuma’s revenge.”

“Short of having my legs taken off, people are going to expect me on stage no matter what,” Tyler told Lauer. “It’s all about playing to the people. We rocked out. Not only did I break my face, but we broke a house record, so life is beautiful, Matt.” Handled like a true rock star.
