Kent State wins its ?rst Mid-American Conference match with a ?ve-setter win

against the Buffalo Bulls Friday, Oct. 7.

The Flashes increased its record to 8-12 when the team forced a ?fth set

after suffering six straight match losses. This match stretched Kent State?s all-time lead

to 19-7.

Senior outside hitter Maigan Larsen hit double digits in kills for the 16th time this

season. Larsen led the team with 15 kills, 11 digs and ?ve blocks. She successfully

completed her seventh double-double this season. Freshman outside hitter Tinuke

Aderemi-Ibitola added a career-high 13 kills.

The Bulls took the ?rst match with a 25-22 win but followed with two straight set

losses to the Golden Flashes. Kent State took the lead, winning 26-24 and 28-26.

Buffalo came back with another close win of 25-23. It fell short to the Golden Flashes in

the ?fth set, losing 12-15.

Kent State will play the ?rst match of the PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge against

Akron at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8.
