October is National Domestic Violence Awareness month. Starting next week downtown East Main stores will be decorated with purple lights to shed awareness on domestic violence. This is the first year that the Portage Council for the Prevention of Violence is sponsoring the display of the purple lights. Program representive Jessica Ross says that if it is a success in Kent, the group hopes to host it in Ravenna next fall.
