An earthquake struck Virginia at 1:51 p.m. today, with waves reaching Northeast Ohio.

The quake, with a preliminary magnitude of 5.9, also hit Washington D.C., New York City, North Carolina and part of Pittsburgh.

White Hall and grad student orientation in the Student Center were temporarily evacuated. No damage has been reported in Kent. Check back to kentwired.com for more updates.
