Provost Robert Frank announced plans to step down as provost and university vice president at the end of the 2011-2012 academic year in an email to the Kent State community Friday.

“At age 59, you tend to reassess your priorities, and I’ve long dreamed of being a college president,” Frank said in the email. “Realistically, I’ve one career move left, and now’s the time to make it.”

Frank said President Lester Lefton would begin searching for a new provost immediately. Frank has held his current position since 2007.
