Squirrel or Flash?

The 50th anniversary of the black squirrel in Kent was January of this year. The black squirrels are found all over our campus and Kent State is known for their black squirrels.

The Kent State University mascot is the Golden Flash.

What the heck is a flash?!

It is actually a golden eagle. Golden eagles have excellent vision, seek amazing heights, and reach the highest goals. This may be the point Kent was trying to make when they declared flash as our mascot.

Some students didn’t know what a golden flash is, including myself. So should the black squirrel be our mascot or should the golden flash stay our mascot?
