Scholarship available to students with community involvement

Students have the opportunity to earn a $5,000 scholarship. The Washington Campus Compact is looking for outstanding college students who positively influence their community. Applications must be submitted online by Jan. 28 to Students in Service Awards , a program of the Washington Campus Compact that works to inspire students to take an active leadership role in their community.

Once applications are submitted, each nominee’s service profile will be posted online on SISA’s website.

Anyone can go online to view the nominees and vote for their favorite.

Applicants can increase their votes using social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, to promote their SISA service file.

Fan votes and the Campus Compact’s staff selection committee will determine the top 50 semifinalists. Finalists will be chosen by fans and a national selection committee.

About $25,000 in scholarships and grants will be awarded to students across the country. All students, including those currently involved in the Students in Service program, are welcome to apply.

The Washington Campus Compact is a nonprofit organization that encourages community service and the development of student citizenship skills.

Finalists will be announced April 28 at the Continuums of Service Conference in San Diego.

Students can find more application and submission information on SISA’s website.
